Xertelo is a charming mountain village in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. It is known for its stunning turquoise lagoons, Poços Verdes do Sobroso. These lagoons are embellished by several small waterfalls that fascinate all nature lovers who visit.
The trail from the village towards the lagoons is a beautiful mountain route. This route offers hikers the chance to discover an ancient Fojo do Lobo, a historic structure used for hunting wolves, and to hike along an old levada.
Once you reach the lagoons, swimming in the crystal-clear waters is practically obligatory on the hottest days of late spring or summer. However, it is important to take care when swimming. After a refreshing dip, there’s nothing better than enjoying a picnic in this idyllic setting, making the most of the natural beauty and tranquillity of the place.
